Dustin

Dustin Martin

Head Coach (High School)

Coach Martin is in his 13th year as the Head High School Coach for Nixa. In his first 12 years at Nixa, he coached 70 state qualifiers, 36 state medalists, and 11 State Champions. In the 2021-2022 season, Martin leads the Nixa Wrestling Women’s team to their highest state finish, with a State Runner-Up Finish, while the boy’s team finished 4th Place in Class 4.

Martin comes to Nixa from Logan-Rogersville where he coached for two years. During his time at Logan-Rogersville, he coached 6 state qualifiers, 4 medalists, and 2 State Champions. Before coaching Martin competed at Fort Hays State University in Hays, KS where he was a 2-year starter and a National Qualifier at 197 pounds. Prior to FHSU Martin attended Labette Community College in Parsons, KS where he wrestled on the varsity squad for two seasons and was a national qualifier at Heavyweight. His sophomore year at Labette he was part of the NJCAA National Championship Team in 2005.

Coach Martin attended high school at Nixa High School and graduated in 2003. Martin participated in Football and Wrestling in high school, he was a 1st Team All-State Defensive End for the Eagles in 2002. Martin received his Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Performance and a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Fort Hays State University. Coach Martin is married to Katie Martin who is also a graduate of Fort Hays State University. In March of 2014, Dustin and Katie became the proud parents of Madelyn Martin.

Ben

Ben Melton

Assistant Coach

Coach Ben Melton is entering his 3rd year coaching at Nixa High School. Coach Melton is currently teaching Mathematics in Nixa at our SCORE building, which is our 9-12 alternative school. Prior to coaching Ben Melton completed 5 years of college wrestling. He had a 2-year stint at Maryville University then transferred to Drury University where he spent his last 3 years as the starter at heavyweight. While in college Melton was a 4X NWCAA All-Academic winner. Prior to college Melton graduated from Nixa High School in 2014. While in high school Coach Melton qualified for the State Championships twice, beating the #1 ranked wrestler in district finals. Melton was a Junior Freestyle State Champion and a 2X Greco-Roman State Champion.

Josh Downing

Assistant Coach

Coach Downing is entering his 6th year coaching at Nixa High School. Coach Downing is currently a Physical Education teacher in Nixa at Summit Intermediate (grades 5-6). Prior to Nixa Coach Downing coached at Ozark High School and Rogersville High School.

Eric Luebbe

Assistant Coach

Coach Eric Luebbe is in his 6th year as an assistant coach at Nixa High School. Prior to coaching, Luebbe wrestled in college at Missouri Baptist University in St. Louis, MO where he was a 4-year starter. Prior to college Luebbe wrestled at Kickapoo High School where he was a 3X State Qualifier.

Jim Robinson

Assistant Coach

Coach Jim Robinson, a North Kansas City High School graduate, qualified 3 times for the state wrestling tournament and finished 3rd place at state during his senior season. At that time, there was only one state winner per weight class. He graduated from Graceland College in Iowa, now Graceland University, where he was a 4-time NAIA qualifier for Nationals. His coaching career began as an assistant at Blue Springs for 3 years before he accepted the head coach position at Belton High School, where he coached for 15 years. A few years later, he signed on for 2 years as the assistant coach at Harrisonville High School before returning to Belton as the assistant coach for 5 more years. He was the 3A Missouri Assistant Coach of the Year in 1996 and District Assistant Coach of the Year in 1996 and 1998. He was inducted into the North Kansas City Wrestling Hall of Fame as a wrestler and into the Belton Wrestling Hall of Fame as a coach, as well as being named the district’s Teacher of the Year during the 1997-1998 school year. He is married to Barb; they have two adult children, Zack and Dr. Carrie Robinson.

Gavin DeWitt

Assistant Coach (Off-Season)

Coach Gavin DeWitt has joined the Nixa Wrestling program as an off-season coach and works with our team during the spring, summer, and fall periods.

Jerry

Jerry Inman

Head Coach (Junior High)

Coach Inman is entering his 5th season with Nixa Wrestling. Coach Inman was the head junior high wrestling coach for six years at Branson, before making the move to Nixa. During this time, he also coached freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling for the Tri-Lakes Wrestling club and was a member of the Missouri National Team coaching staff.

Kevin

Kevin Carey

Assistant Coach

Coach Carey is in his 2nd year at Nixa High School. Coach Carey teaches 8th-grade social studies at Nixa Jr. High. Coach Carey has prior coaching stops in MO, OK, and GA where he won a dual team state championship. He has coached multiple state qualifiers and state champions throughout his career. Coach Carey also coaches freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling on the Missouri National Team staff.

Shane

Shane Graham

Assistant Coach

Coach Graham is in his 15th year teaching in the Nixa School District at High Pointe Elementary as their Physical Education instructor. In the fall of 2021, he completed his first year as head 7th-grade football after serving both at the varsity and freshman levels for the Eagles football program. Prior to coming to southwest Missouri, Coach Graham taught in the Hannibal School District where he coached at the varsity level in football, baseball, and wrestling. While at Hannibal, Coach Graham was on the wrestling staff in the mid to late 90s including the 3rd place finish in 1995 at the Missouri Class 3A State Championships. Coach Graham holds a BS in Education-Phys. Ed from SMSU (Missouri State University) and a MS in Education-Administration from William Woods University.

Barry Weldon

Nixa Youth Coach

Coach Weldon is in his 5th year of helping coach the Nixa Youth Wrestling Team.

Coach Weldon was a Division 1 National Champion at Iowa State University in 1997. After his collegiate career, Coach Weldon went on to coach at the University of Oklahoma. Coach Weldon is now working and living in Nixa, MO, and enjoys coaching our youth team and working with his son.

Coach McAtee is a former standout wrestler at Nixa High School, post-high school McAtee spent time as a collegiate wrestler. He is now in his 2nd season as a coach for Nixa Youth Wrestling.
